What happens at demented Corner House

I haven't started volunteering yet but I should soon begin at a home in Jaywick for the elderly with dementia. My dad died recently having suffered for a long time from this dreadful illness. He went from being an intelligent (albeit shy and withdrawn) man to one who could not get find the words he needed to communicate with anyone. It was painful to watch, so God knows how he felt in his more lucid moments.

So, in his memory I decided to volunteer at a local home that specialises in care of the elderly with dementia. I'll only do a few hours a week but at least I'll know that I'll be helping someone else, even if I couldn't help him.

God, ageing is hard.
